why is bravecto prescription only
Bravecto is a prescription-only treatment because it contains a new ingredient called fluralaner.
Fluralaner is an insecticide that belongs to a class of drugs called pyrethroid
Fluralaner is the active ingredient in Bravecto, which means it’s the only thing that kills fleas, ticks and mosquitoes on dogs.
The FDA has not approved any other insecticide for use on dogs, so Bravecto is the only option available to prevent these pests from infesting your pup.
Bravecto also has similar properties to Nexgard but it’s an oral medication. Bravecto was first introduced in Europe in the beginning of 2016, so it’s already been available there for several years.
The medication is administered as a single tablet with 60 pieces of pure active ingredient in each tablet.
